Feeling Down

You know those days when you’re feeling under the weather? Sometimes you are down right sick and that’s when leggings and a tall tee are acceptable…but when you just have a little cough, or even if your just running late to class I have a tip for you! In your spare time, pick out a few outfits that can be your “go-to”s. Take a mobile picture or just have the hanging together in your closet so you know you can grab them in a hurry or if you’re feeling crummy and just can’t put anything together.

Things that give any outfit a boost:

Boots

Scarves

Hair Accessories

These are easy go-to items that can make even your tall tee and leggings looking like a million bucks! As your semester goes on you’ll realize you need these pre-planned outfits more than you think, so take advantage of your down time..or those nights when you cannot fall asleep! xoxo

Falling into Inspiration

The weather keeps trying to trick us, but we know fall is almost here! Sweaters, jeans, cords, and trenches are waiting to be pulled out of storage, along with those awesome new boots you bought on Nordstrom's Anniversary sale in August. Get excited for the pumpkin patches (which my boyfriend refuses to go with me until its actually October), wine tastings, piles of leaves and of course the Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks.

What are your favorite things about Fall?

West Coast love is living on the East Coast

Going to fashion week in New York City was beyond amazing, but it got me to thinking. The West Coast fashions are so opposite than the New York 'street style'. While at fashion week I am proud to say I got 'Street Styled' (A popular fashion blogger asked to take my picture and interviewed me about my style).

Me and a Bestie after getting Street Styled

She mentioned that she like my style because it was lighter and brighter than those seen in New York. That night I got to thinking about my visit to California over the summer and...she is right, my style can sometimes be more 'West Coast' than 'East Coast', which is never a bad thing! I began to point out the differences between California and New York style...

West Coast California Style
Natural
Organic
Calm
Layered (for the chilly nights)
White
Nudes
Relaxed
Lime
Fresh
Clean

East Coast New York Style
Dark
Edgy
Grunge
Black
Patent
Cosmetic
Up-tight
Avant Garde

I definitely don't mean to bash New York, I love it there. But maybe it was just the weather from this past visit that made me wish I was back in Los Angeles and start analyze the deeper styles. After this research I definitely find myself more of a West Coast girl, feeling the need to wear white jeans all year long and loving the pastels and light scents of the beach. xoxo

IFB

I find myself having to take deep breaths just to tame my excitment I still have from experiencing such a great piece of fashion week! It was more than anything expected. Meeting some of the top bloggers and inspirations of the fashion world was beyond surreal. After having a rough first night in New York City, walking into Milk Studios was a breath of fresh air. The room was all white with goodie bags (that I frantically stuffed the night before) sitting with each anxious blogger in the audience.

Being able to volunteer at the IFB conference opened my eyes to the rest of the blogosphere with guests all the way from Asia. Meeting bloggers from California also was inspiring and exciting (Post about West Coast fashion coming soon!). Bringing the West coast to New York is bold...and much needed. But the most shocking moment was when Susie Bubble walked in - the largest UK blogger and in manys' opinion the top fashion blogger in the world.

Even though I have yet to be familiar with every blogger out there, this conference shed light on new sites and styles that I will definitely pursue. Having friendly faces aproach you and ask all about your intrests was welcoming and proved that this new obsession in the fashion world is eager to grow. Learning the way that these sucessful women and men run their businesses and uphold themselves made me want to jump the gun and make business cards, a new twitter and go crazy with this blog! They spoke about how the layout, sponsors, feeds, ect all effect your blog and how your readers feel about it. Can't wait to get on the blogging bus and do it up for myself and all of my readers!

The best advice from the confrence was simple..practice makes perfect! Keep blogging and eventually you'll get it right : )

Suspense

It's the most wonderful time of the year... Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is only a few days away and I couldn't be more excited to be traveling into New York!! So many people dream of going to Fashion week, and somehow I am actually making this dream happen! My collegues and I will be voulenteering at the Independant Fashion Bloggers Conference, where we will potentially meet the top fashion bloggers out there today!  Blogs are the next big thing, and I can already tell the IFB confrence will be a sure inspiration to jet set LC. I am more than ready to bring the fashion world a little closer and to expose myself to this new media.

Bloggers will be telling stories about their experiences, giving tips to up-and-coming bloggers, and of course sharing their love of fashion with everyone in the city. Hopefully we will also get to peek into a few shows throughout the week, I would love to see Rebecca Taylor, Nicole Miller, or Rebecca Minkoff to name a few...Updates are already on the way!
